Heat-Resistant Granite Repair Adhesive: The Definitive Professional Manual
Heat-resistant granite repair adhesive is a uniquely engineered product specifically designed to bond granite surfaces together when there is a defect, such as cracks, chips, seams, or voids. These materials are designed so that they can withstand high temperatures while maintaining their bond, strength or structural integrity.
As granite is a common material in kitchens (as countertops), outside (landscaping materials) and other environments with high heat, the heat-resistance properties of the repair adhesive are extremely important in terms of making sure that any repairs made will stand up to the test of time.
The primary characteristics of a high-quality heat resistant granite repair adhesive include a high degree of thermal stability. Most heat resistant granite repair adhesives are able to withstand continuous exposure to temperatures of 80ºC to 120ºC and short-term temperature peaks of 150ºC (depending on the formulation). The majority of these products utilize two-component epoxy and/or polyester resins, which develop bonds that are extremely rigid and strong when mixed at prescribed ratios, equal to the density and durability of granite.
Also, heat-resistant granite repair adhesives have excellent adhesion to non-porous surfaces (granite), little shrinkage during the curing process, resistance to yellowing, and compatibility with common household cleaners/chemicals; all of which will help to maintain the repaired area’s appearance and performance much like the surrounding stone.
In addition to kitchen countertops that are exposed to hot pots and pans, heat resistant granite repair adhesives are versatile products that can be used to repair granite surfaces that are subject to extreme temperature changes (e.g.; outdoor applications) and also those that are found within commercial establishments with high-temperature operations. A heat resistant granite repair adhesive can be used to repair chipped areas, fill very fine cracks, bond two or more pieces of broken granite together, and seal seams, without damaging the stone’s structural integrity or natural finish.
Additionally, in cases where a heat resistant granite repair adhesive is required for professional applications (e.g.; repairing granite used in an office or public facility), it can be tinted to match in colour with the granite to be repaired.
